The other day “The Good Ones” came on the radio, and it brought a huge smile to my face. You see, one of the neat parts of photographing weddings is that I get to experience songs that are deeply meaningful to couples. These are wonderful moments to capture and hearing those songs later during “everyday” life instantly brings a touch of magic to the day. (I’m partial to “Brown-Eyed Girl,” which my husband sang to me at our wedding!) 

Hearing “The Good Ones” immediately took me back to Heidi and Blaine’s incredibly elegant Independence, Kansas wedding, where one of the highlights was hearing Heidi sing that song to Blaine during the ceremony. She has a gorgeous voice – and as you’ll see in the pictures below, is super gorgeous herself!

Heidi and Blaine were brought together by two very different forces: Instagram and well-intentioned church ladies ;) Even though they lived in separate states, these two started talking and those conversations led to this magical day. It was a beautiful ceremony made even more special because Heidi’s dad is a pastor and was able to officiate. 

If you can tear your eyes away from this lovely, loving couple (I know, it’s difficult!), you’ll spot the many vintage touches found at this unique venue. The Booth Hotel is decorated with artful antiques and classic details, and it was a perfect match with this stylish wedding. We even had access to the roof. I have to give a big thank you to everyone (including the venue manager who had to bring the key every time!) who was willing to go up and down the old elevator for pictures on the rooftop – when you see them, you’ll know why it was worth it!
